Children, Adults, and Russian dolls

Some children are born adults, some achieve adulthood and some have adulthood thrust upon them. Does the reverse of that also apply? Some adults are born children, some achieve childhood and some have childhood thrust upon them? I think it does.

Changing direction slightly, do you think a person remains the same inside as s/he grows through the different phases of life or is each one of us like a Russian doll, the outer person containing a series of completely different inner-people, one for each of the phases of life we have passed through?

When you go to a school reunion or happen to meet a childhood friend you discover neither one of you is the same 'person' anymore. Those two childhood 'people' are now the innermost dolls.
